Enjoy the Adventure
A tour from Essaouira to the desert would typically involve traveling by car or minivan through the countryside of southern Morocco. The trip would take you through small towns and villages, and across the barren landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you might stop to visit traditional Berber villages and learn about the local culture and way of life. Once you reach the desert, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the stark beauty of the Sahara desert. Some tour operators will offer camel treks, where you’ll travel on the back of a camel and camp overnight in a traditional desert camp. Others may include 4×4 off-road excursions, sandboarding, and stargazing. The duration of the tour can vary depending on the itinerary, but a typical one-week tour would include 2-3 days in Essaouira, 2-3 days in Marrakech and the rest of the time will be spent in the desert. Please note that the desert can be quite hot during the day, so it’s important to dress appropriately and bring plenty of sunscreen.
