Cat茅gorie voyage

Day 1: (December 29th) Marrakech – Todra Gorges

This Tour starts from Marrakech when we pick you up from your hotel and travel along the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The Tizi n’Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco, at an elevation of 2260m (6,867 ft.) above sea level, linking the southeast of Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains.  It lies between the great Marrakech Plains and the Gateway of the Sahara Desert.  This long winding road offers many breathtaking views and the scenery promises to be nothing short of spectacular.  The natural backdrop of the enormous rocks reflects colors in every shade of orange, red and brown imaginable while still visible in the deep valleys is the contrasting green from different types of cultivation of the local villagers.
Aït Benhaddou: Along the route you will stop to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou, a spectacular fortified village (Ksar). While in Aït Benhaddou you will have time for lunch, which will be in a traditional restaurant, before traveling on to Ouarzazate.
Ouarzazate: In Ouarzazate you will visit the cinema studios of Atlas & CLA Studios where many movies were produced thus being called “The Hollywood of Africa.” Atlas Studio & CLA Studios is home to many prestigious movies filmed from Lawrence of Arabia, Tea in Sahara, Black Hawk Down, Moses, Gladiator, Cleopatra, The Mummy 1 & 2, Alexander the Great, Kingdom of Heaven, Sahara, Troy, Hidalgo, Patton, The Hills has Eyes, The Way Back, Babel, Treasure Island, Jewel of the Nile, Gladiator, Ben-Hur, The Passions of Christ and even more.
You will visit the Kasbah Amridil, originally built in the 17th century, one of Morocco’s most iconic living museums.  It has withstood the test of time, making it the ideal setting for an insight into the ancient traditions of Kasbah life. Here, you will be able to take a look at some tools that were used in the area generations ago, and some that are still used today in southern Morocco. After you’ve taken in the traditional ways of the Kasbah, make your way up the stairs to the top of the fortification to get a stunning view of the surrounding Skoura palm groves.
Kelaat M’Gouna: At the southernmost gorges is the AsifM’Goun River, which runs alongside of a small town referred to as Valley of the Roses. The Valley of the Roses is known for the extensive harvest of roses, used in the production of perfume, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products.  Among the foliage you will also find groves of palm and almond trees.
Boumalne Dades: The traditional adobe houses of southeast Morocco in general and the Village of Boumalne Dades in particular are just amazing.  They become warm in the summer and cold in the winter, which contributes to the good health of the people. This type of building solidifies Boumalne Dades as being distinct from the rest of the country.  All the materials used to build a Kasbah or a castle is taken from local sources such as water, rocks, soil, wood, reed, and so on. However, for the last two decades, the state started encouraging people to build with cement, which had a negative impact on the traditional way of building.  Those people who have cement houses are considered rich and superior among the other villagers.
Dadès Gorges: The Dadès Gorges is a scenically beautiful section of the Dades River Valley in between the Atlas Mountains and the Anti Atlas. The Gorges is best known for mesmerizing scenery and the Kasbahs set precariously along the roadside, overlooking the river below.Tinghir:Once we arrive to Tinghir you will be checked in to your riad/hotel for your accommodations and dinner for the evening.
