Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

The tour starts with an early departure in Fes, when we pick up from your hotel, and start our travels. You will be amazed by the most fascinating landscapes conceivable as we pass along the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first destination will be to Ifrane.

Ifrane: Ifrane,The Little Switzerland of Morocco, is unlike any other town in North Africa. It is located at an elevation of 1,665 m (5,463 ft.), above sea level in the Middle Atlas region. It is a small resort town set high up in the mountains with a Swiss like ambiance. Ifrane serves as the winter playground for the wealthy Berbers from drier cites like Fez, Meknes, and Marrakech, who flock here to experience a European winter or to find relief from the summer heat. Ifrane is also a popular altitude-training destination as well. In 1995 Al Akhawayn University, an English-language, American-curriculum public university opened and this has helped re-launch Ifrane as a desirable destination for domestic tourism. Consequently, Ifrane continues to develop as both a summer and winter resort.

AzrouCèdreGouraud, is a forest, in the woodland area, in the Middle Atlas Mountain Range in Morocco. The forest is truly remarkable and a complete contrast from the Sahara Desert. This beautified cedar forest is home to the endangered Barbary Apes, which are actually monkeys. Once you arrive you won’t have to look far to see the Barbary Apes, as they are not shy to come out of the forest to greet you. This will be good opportunity to take photos of the timberland in Morocco.

Zaida: The town of Zaida, a small Berber town in the Midelt region, has an incredible street lined with restaurants. You will see many displays of fresh meat hanging in front of the shops as well as traditional wood burners cooking an assortment of tagines. Here is a great place where we will stop to have lunch before we continue on through the Atlas Mountainstowards the Merzouga.

Midelt: On your travels you will pass through the town of Midelt, with a population of 55,304 recorded in 2014, it is located in central Morocco, in the high plains between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains ranges. The cities elevation is 1508 m (4948 ft.), making it one of the highest large towns in Morocco. Midelt is one of Morocco’s principle cities for the mining of several minerals as well as a market for agriculture for an area extending across the region. This region is best known for apples, walnuts, apricots, plums, pomegranates, wheat, corn and a wide variety of garden vegetables.
Erfoud: Erfoud is a town in southern Morocco, in the Tafilalet-region. The towns’ main districts are Hay Salam, Hay Jdid, Hay Ziz, Hay el Bathaa, Hay Annahda, Hay el Hamri. Erfoud has been given the name of “The Gate of Sahara Desert” as it is near the Erg Chebbi Dunes since you can actually take direct off-road route to the dunes.
While traveling through Erfoud, which is known for its precious and unique fossils, we will stop to visit the workers of fossils and the Erfoud Market of Dates.
Merzouga: When you arrive to Merzouga you will be checked into your hotel for your accommodation(s) and dinner.

Day 2: Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani – Erg Chebbi

After your breakfast you will tour the area of Erg Chebbi.

Khamila: Khamlia is a little village in the desert bythe biggest dunes in Erg Chebbi; all together there are 32 houses with about 150 people. In Khamlia are three small shops, a coffee house and a school. There is also electricity and water.You will visit a Berber residence and listen to the indigenousGnawa music, which had originated in West Africa. After, you will visit some deserted mines and the Oasis of the Palm Trees.

Rissani: You will visit the small oasis town of Rissani which les near the northwest edge of the Sahara. This picturesque city has gained popularity, not only as the Tafilalet capital, but also as a destination where visitors can still experience the true mystique of Morocco. Rissani is best known as a producer of high quality of leather. This diverse Moroccan destination is also well known for its market, or souk. You will visit the visit the famous Market of Rissani where you can find jewelry, souvenirs, gifts, spices, art and crafts.

While in Rissani your lunch will be a traditional Moroccan pizza called “Medfouna”. After you will comeback to your hotel in Merzouga and prepare for your journey to Erg Chebbi to take a camel ride into the desert where you will enjoy a night under the stars.

Erg Chebbi: From Erg Chebbi you will embark upon a camel and journey into the Sarah Desert. The camels will be packed with food and blankets, as well as the other necessities needed for this one night stay in the desert. We will trek our way through the sand to a small Oasis in the middle of the dunes. Here is where you will be spending your evening, where the sky is clear and stars sparkle and shine with intensity. Your accommodations this evening will be camping in a Nomad Berber Tent.
Once settled in at camp, a campfire will be lit and our staff will play music with drums in order to share our culture with you. Afterwards you will be severed your dinner under the Saharan skies ‘blanket of stars’ at the campfire or in the restaurant tent at the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Fez

In the morning, after having a sunrise breakfast, we will break camp and ride our camels out of the desert and back to our original point of departure.

Merzouga: You will then travel back to the hotel so that you can shower, have breakfast and collect your luggage before starting on your way back to Fez.

Midelt: We will stop along the route in Midelt for lunch, after we will continue the return trip back to Fez.

Fez: Once you arrive to Fez, you will be dropped off at your hotel, and this will complete your 3 Day Tour from Fez To Merzouga and end our services.
